In 1933, Thomas Leslie Caldecott moved his young family to Wythall, Worcestershire, where his sons, Les and Peter, saw an opportunity to grow turkeys for the Christmas market and provided much needed Christmas work for the villagers.

In the early 1990’s Robert Caldecott resurrected the Caldecott Christmas turkey initially producing 2,500 turkeys. Today, Caldecott’s produce 60,000 turkeys (free range Bronze and barn reared white) and 150,000 free range chicken.

The environment and wildlife is very important to us and in recent years we have converted a four acre field to a conservation area complete with 1.5 acre lake.

In the 1970s, a group of Yorkshire pig farmers joined forces to mill their own feed, and Cranswick was formed.  

In the 1980s, we moved into food production, creating one of the UK’s first ‘farm to fork’ offerings for the rapidly changing grocery market. Today, we’re one of the largest food producers in Britain, remaining true to our ethos of creating authentically made British food, without compromise.
